Board of Trustees

Tony Eyre is a Dunedin chartered accountant in public practice and is one of the original trustees appointed by his friend Patricia France back in 1995. He integrates his professional life with a range of literary and artistic pursuits. He has a particular interest in creative nonfiction and essay and feature writing and is a regular contributor to newspapers and magazines. He has served on the boards of a number of community organisations and has been on the Permanent External Advisory Committee (PEAC) of the Dunedin School of Art at Otago Polytechnic since 2004. Paul Sorrell is a freelance editor, nonfiction writer and wildlife photographer. He moved to Dunedin in 1979 and has come to love the city. He is a trustee of the Archibald Baxter Memorial Trust and a member of the Dunedin City of Literature collaboration group.  Paul has published four books on people and places in Otago with Penguin Random House. He writes a monthly film review for Tui Motu: Interislands, an independent Catholic magazine.

Ngaire Gardner is a former Head of Visual Arts at Queen’s High School, Dunedin. She was a very good friend of Patricia France and is very pleased to be able to honour her wonderful legacy by being a member of the Board of Trustees. Recently Adivaani Press, Kolkata, India published Ngaire’s book, Illustrated Pursuits – W. S. Sherwill in India 1834 – 1861. Ngaire has an interest in digital media and is a co-creator of the Patricia France Charitable Trust website. Her current projects include building an online archive based on her research into RAF 622 Squadron aircrews shot down in France during WWII. 

Penny Kagan is a medical general practitioner working in Dunedin, rural Otago and Southland. In 1989 she became a member of Doctors for Sexual Abuse Care and from 2003 has been teaching community health professionals how to recognise and respond to Family Violence. She feels honoured to be a trustee of Patricia France’s Charitable Trust.
